Bath Sports Awards 2018

15th November, 2018

We nominated Arnold in the Bath Sports Awards and he has been shortlisted for Outstanding Services to Sport. Whilst he mildly protested about his nomination when he found out, saying that others do a lot (and this we do not deny – never fear we’ve also nominated some for volunteer of the year etc) we do believe that Outstanding Services to Sport in Bath takes many many years of service and a scope that extends beyond the incredible efforts of many of our club. So his own performance as an athlete is just one part of the picture, his teaching – to all levels of junior, novice, senior, masters, elite, coxes and coaches – another part, his investment in the club both financially and physically, his years of service on the committee, his wider remit in bringing rowing in Bath to the forefront of the local press and rowing press – these things all add up to outstanding, to service and to sport, don’t you think?

On the night, it wasn’t to be, with the award going to PE Teacher Brendan Rouse of St John’s Catholic Primary School.
