Hold Hard! Our very own erg queen has nailed it again!
14th March, 2019
Minerva’s very own midweek rep Heidi Richards now holds the British Record for the 1000metre heavyweight indoor sprint (age 50-59 age group), after winning the Silver Medal for the Concept 2 World Indoor Sprint Competition at the weekend! She achieved it by improving her personal best time by 4.5 seconds! The British Record had stood for 6 years, but she SMASHED IT, rowing the 1k in 3:32.8.
Heidi’s Silver Medal follows a Bronze at last year’s event. She is second only to Anne Bourlioux of Canada in this category (264 indoor rowers) and is 30th across all of the women’s categories (1105 women). Heidi also holds the British Record for the fastest 1 minute erg and 100m erg.
Inspired by Heidi, we also had some great Junior times entered and the amazing Ali Daw and Sue Lees also got into the top 100 women over 1k in their category (Lightweight women age 60-69), ranking 71 and 86. Amazing!
We submitted more than 20 1k erg scores, which means Minerva Bath Rowing Club are in with a good chance of winning a brand new Concept 2 erg machine for the Club. Thanks to everyone who took part.
In an interview for British Rowing, Heidi gave away a few tips on how to to push your PB which you can read here.
