Klaus Riekemann, 83, represented Minerva in an 8+ I -M composite and took gold in a scratch crew with rowers from Dart Totnes, Star, Broxbourne, Poplar, Quintin, Upper Thames and Wallingford.
With a time of 3:31.59, the UK boat beat the German runners-up by 4.48 seconds.
The weather in Munich was very mixed and Klaus’s final race, an H 8+, was cancelled, along with other races, because of predicted lightning strikes and stormy weather.
Rumour had it that Josh Knight was acing his erg scores and was heading to Boston in Lincolnshire for his first round of GB trials.
