Annual Awards Dinner - oh what a night!

18th November, 2024

And the winners were…

Volunteer of the Year: Sharon Alcock

For leading the Masters Women Squad and creating Minerva’s very own Safety videos.

Unsung Hero: Tim Birtwistle

Tim sneaks down to the club at all hours, cutting grass, and maintaining the site and launches. Oh and that’s on top of all the sculling coaching and assessments.

Squad/Group contribution: Midweekers

They get involved in every aspect of running the club and shine in all areas, from staffing Learn to Row sessions, maintenance, social events and growing Minerva’s membership.

Coach of the year. Andy Ursell

His coaching style is loved by everyone and his monday night ergs are THE hottest ticket in Bath!

Crew of the year. Masters Men D4+

For their performance racing against three Olympic medalists.

Squad of the year/performance. Senior Men

Qualifying for Henley Royal Regatta and being the fastest ever Minerva crew over 2000m!

Bent rigger: Emma Puzey and Thomasina Craster

Their ‘incident’ with a fallen tree and rescue by paddle-boarding policemen was as entertaining as it gets!

Outstanding Contributor: Sue Lees

Spirit of Minerva: Emma Puzey

The list is endless for the contributions Sue and Emma make – both together and individually – and including running the Juniors squad and sessions, GoRow and Learn to Row, Raffles, Prizes, Blazers and kit.

Thank you to all these stars of Minerva and to the incredible team of volunteers who made the evening so special!
