Llandaff, July 13th-14th
15th July, 2024
Last weekend at Llandaff saw Richard and Laura competing in the ‘Llandaff 500’, aka 460m! A short but intense race. In the semi-final, they faced a ‘G’ crew who had a 5-second head start. Minerva caught up by the stride, overtook, and cruised to the finish with energy to spare. The final put them against an ‘F’ crew, a rematch from Monmouth where their fast start had previously caught their opponents off guard (so they told them at the time) but the Hereford oppo had made them work damn hard for the win. This time they knew they’d need something a bit different so maintained a higher rate of 34 off the back of the same fast start maintaining that all the way to the finish. Despite a brief clash (nice one Richard) with another boat heading up the course, they persevered, securing victory by just half a length.
This dynamic duo have had two satisfying wins and now a tally of 4 out of 5 wins this summer with more races to come in the double (as well as in the mixed quad with Robert and Juliet).
