Minerva Glory at Bewdley

24th July, 2023

Minerva was well-represented at Bewdley this year, with a Midweek quad and double, Senior Women’s four, a Development Squad four and eight, as well as Tim Knight and Karl Jefferies in singles!

The Midweek WMasD 4x- of Heidi Richards, Juliet Phillipson, Emma Puzey and Lorna McIsaac encountered squally weather conditions during their straight-to-final 800m morning sprint. Trent Rowing Club pulled away at the start, triggering a refocus by Minerva who, during the first quarter of the race, overtook their opposition, eventually winning by 4.5 lengths.

After wringing out their Lycra, Heidi and Lorna were back at the start, competing in a WMasE 2x- final alongside Warwick Boat Club. Both crews were pretty equally matched and by 400m it was still neck and neck. However, Minerva unleashed an impressive sprint finish, going over the line 1.5 lengths ahead of their rivals.

Senior Women: Freya Baldwin, Pip Marchant, Ellie Dargie (cox), Kerry Harben, Rachael Stitt were in a 4+. They won the semi, but lost in the final.

The Dev Squad 4+ won the final by 4 lengths on the Saturday. On Sunday the same crew lost by 3ft to Warwick RC, who went on to win the final easily. Cox Jim with crew of Megan, Pandora, Emma and Amy
